Cycle between two cities of historical charm with cosmopolitan twists. From the golden city of Prague, the city of a hundred spires, to the baroque masterpiece of Dresden, you will follow the award-winning cycle path that tracks the Elbe river. The city centres are fantastic, but once in the countryside you will be inundated with other pleasures, from the vineyards of the Bohemian wine route to the spectacular sandstone cliffs of Saxon Switzerland. Whilst some of the towns may strike you as a little Eastern Bloc, the warm welcome youll receive is a sure sign that old divisions are well and truly gone!

Day 1 | Arrive in Prague.
Transfer by minibus or taxi to your first hotel for a complimentary welcome drink.
Day 2| Sightseeing in Prague
Today you have the chance to explore The Golden City of Prague. Be sure to check out the 14th century Charles Bridge with its 16 arches and the magnificent Old Town square, complete with its world famous astronomical clock. The cafs and wine bars add an effervescent atmosphere to this historic setting, especially as the sun starts to set, so be sure to soak it up with a local pilsner or local wine.
Day 3 | Prague to Melnik
Your cycling tour starts today with a flat ride beside the river Vlatva and into the Bohemian wine region and its central town of Melnik. Here you will be able to sample the local wines, produced in some of the northernmost vineyards in Europe. The views from the Renaissance style castle, which sits above a terraced vineyard, take in the confluence of the Vltava and the Elbe, making for a stunning photo opportunity.
Day 4 | Melnik to Litomerice
Continuing up the Elbe river by pedal power, your route follows its waters as it wends towards Litomerice. Towards the end of the day, the route branches inland, taking you through the fortress town of Terezin, infamous as the site of a Jewish ghetto in World War II and an interesting and poignant place to learn about. In Litomerice, you will find a charming town with a mixture of architectural styles and a penchant for colour. It is also home to a network of underground tunnels that connect several local wine cellars, many of which are open to the visitors.
Day 5 | Litomerice to Decin
Another leisurely day of cycling awaits today, with a route that sticks to the flat riverside route as it passes through some beautiful mountain scenery before arriving in Decin. Keep an eye out as you pedal for Strekov castle, perched precariously atop a cliff near the town of Usti nad Labem. In Decin, you will find yet another castle perched up high. A walk up to the castle gives great views of the river and its famous rose garden is worth visiting too.
Day 6 | Decin to Bad Schandau
A short ride today will take you from Czechia to Germany, whilst travelling between impressive sandstone cliffs along the riverside cycle path. The short distance covered today means you will arrive in Bad Schandau, a well-known spa town, with plenty of time to pamper yourself with a few treatments ahead of your final day of cycling. For the hardier traveler to whom a spa treatment may not be quite as appealing, why not hop on the Kirnitzschtal tramway to the nearby waterfall at Lichtenhain.
Day 7 | Bad Schandau to Dresden
Continuing on through the Saxon Switzerland National Park, todays route passes more imposing sandstone cliffs and picturesque riverside meadows on its way to Dresden. Dresden itself is a city of great historical notoriety, having been the capital of the kingdom of Saxony and heavily involved in world war two. The Zinger palace and Semper opera house are both stunning examples of baroque architecture. The old town area and its welcoming population will be happy to join you in raising a glass to a great week of cycling.
After a hearty breakfast we say auf weidersehen before transferring you back to Prague.
