Jaw dropping coast lines, medieval villages and a warm climate, cycling in Spain is perfect for newcomers or the saddle hardened. Take some time to meander through Catalunya or come and visit a 6 day cycling festival in the heart of Girona. Girona is home to over eighty professional riders and from here, you can ride into the Spanish Pyrenees. This is an incredible 8 day tour with scenic, beautiful and challenging riding. Epic climbs are followed by exhilarating descents in this stunning section of the Pyrenees.

Day 1

Arrive in Barcelona or Girona and we will be waiting to take you to the hotel. Check in and relax or explore the wonderful medieval town of Girona. You can pick up your bicycle the day you arrive and your meeting point is located a few hundred metres from a number of great hotels that we use.

Day 2

Els Angels

Total distance 60km

Total climb 1000m

The Els Ãngels loop is one of the most famous rides in Girona and we recommend you try this today. It is a favourite of the pros that live and train here. It’s a great welcome to Girona too as the route crosses the Les Gavarres mountains twice but the ride is a relatively relaxing 60km route. You can also follow the 2009 Tour de France route out to Cassã de la Selva.

Day 3

Sant Grau

Total distance 100km

Total climb 1500m

This ride gives you a taste of the 2009 Tour de France. You will ride along the famous coastal road, one of the most stunning sections of road you can experience on a bike. The ride is tough with plenty of undulating sections and punchy climbs but this ride is a must if you’re in Girona.

Day 4

Total distance 92km

Total climb 1835m

Today is a challenging ride, gradually ascending all day into the southern Pyrenees. You will experience some beautiful, scenic roads along the way and the ride finishes today in the mountain village of Camprodon.

Day 5

Mare de Deu del Mont

Total distance 154km

Total climb 3650m

Today offers a truly spectacular ride. You will experience breathtaking views, the best of which is atop the climb of the ride, Mare de Déu del Mont. The climb is lengthy and offers a challenging day in the saddle but it’s relatively gradual ascent means that no part of the day is too punchy.

Day 6

Vallter 2000

Total distance 45km

Total climb 1231m

Vallter 2000 has featured in both the Vuelta a España and Volta a Catalunya and is therefore recognised as a very famous Catalonian climb. The climb is one of only four climbs in the area that climbs to over 2000m. Keep plenty in the legs during the start of the day as, although the climb is steady, there are some steep sections exceeding 10%. The views from the Vallter 2000 ski resort are spectacular.

Day 7

Camprodon to Girona

Total distance 95km

Total climb 900m

What goes up must come down. Today, you will indeed be going down! A reverse of Day 4, you will descend across the southern Pyrenees on this magical ride. You have 95km with almost 75% of it being downhill. Prepare for an incredible descent.

Day 8

Check out from your hotel and we will take you back to the airport for your return flight home.

We are Love Velo, a cycling travel company that was set up to challenge the concept of cycling holidays. If you've never ridden a bike, or if you ride hundreds of miles a week, we can send you away on new exciting experiences. We have holidays for people who want a beach break with bike hire for a day or two, all the way through to specific overseas training camps. Most of our trips are totally flexible so there is no finding dates to match your holiday. Tell us your holiday dates and we will match a cycling experience for you. We know what we do and how we do it but WHY do we do it. Why do our team come into the office every day aside from it being their job? Why are we so passionate about cycling? Fundamentally, it's because we believe time is precious. Whether it's time for yourself, to clear your head, time with your friends or partner, or time with your children, cycling gives you that time. We believe that we enable our cyclists to have the best time on their bike.
